Sound Town
OK, here's the deal.
You want sound? Big bass boxes? Dance all night
long? We can do this.
Four Quarters has hosted Gaian Mind, one of the largest
and many claim the best Psy-trance music event in the East. IT IS LOUD!!!
They make it work because they understand sound propagation and its
management. And because there are no exceptions to how they manage sound.
So... if we are all smart and manage our sound, we can play all night.
Here's how.
* All sound systems larger than a boom box must
be registered and will be located in Sound Town. You can register at
the gate, but if we fill up, you are out of luck. So pre-register your
system and guarantee your space.
When you register your system, you will be given a
neat-o, collectable and laminated placard to display above your boxes.
No placard, no sound. See bootleg systems below.
If you arrive after dark Friday, you will have
to wait until Saturday to set up your system. If you arrive Saturday,
we just might refuse your system.
* Unregistered bootleg systems will be shut
down and their equipment turned over to The Reaper as raw material
for his burnable sculpture. We are serious.
* Sound Town is supplied with buried power from
the Four Quarters power system, so don't bring your generator. A 50'
power cable will do nicely. Yes, you can run lights, but unlike Three
Mile Island, there are limits to how much power we can burn, so be reasonable.
Your power will be measured with an inductive meter, so power hogs will
be forced to share with nice people. Sharing is good.
* Staff monitors the total combined sound level
of all systems from the property lines of our neighbor with walkie-talkies
and digital db meters. It's all very high tech and super secret.
Using this info they will monitor the sound
level from your rig with a digital db meter and give you an operating
level, in db. Once this level is set, KEEP YOUR MITTS OFF THE DIAL,
upon pain of having your system zapped, dismantled and fed into a crusher.
We are serious about this.
* Last and most important!
KEEP YOUR MITTS OFF THE DIAL after levels are
set.
We suggest duct tape on the potentiometers.
Or hire an enforcer.
Seriously, watch out for happy helpers who screw
with your gear,
because it will be your system that gets shut
down,
and we really don't want to do that.

PS: Many consider the North Crook, where Sound Town lives, to be the
finest camping at Four Quarters. Under huge Tulip Poplar trees, with
its own swimming hole, and right next to the toilets and hot showers.
