If you plan to bring sound, READ ABOUT SOUND TOWN. We warned you!

by Kate
A big piece of Burn events are Theme Camps. Encompassing an (almost) anything goes attitude, the creation of Theme Camps are for the most part attendee driven. Many theme camps offer activities, services, art, workshops and /or performances, with no limit on creativity and originality.
From elaborate creations of space and art, to a simple place to relax, from a large group of people who create an alternate world to a few friends who just want to camp together, Theme Camps are the heart and soul of a burn event. Participating in the creation of a Theme Camp can be a lot of work, from building it to breaking it all down, but it is also an experiment in sharing and community, one that is worth experiencing.
If you are planning a Theme Camp and would like reserved placement of your camp, please contact our Theme Camp coordinator, Captain Rose. It's the smart thing to do. Trust us on this.
And yes, Theme Camps can receive Art Grants.

Four Quarters is big and spread out. So we have towns too. Towns with themes for their Camps. For for 2011:

   * Sound Town is our all night, all day aural environment. If you want to run loud sound, blow your bass box and your youthful hearing, you will be in Sound Town. Sound Town is in one of the prettiest sections of Four Quarters, has it's own swimming hole, with amazing natural acoustics that limit sound propagation. But there are limits. Read the Sound Town section for full particulars and to register your system. If you don't read it, and do bring your sound system, you will be mightily gerflectered.

   * Artisan Alley. Crafts, clothing/costumes, creation stations.. let your imagination express itself!

The Jackson Pollock Memorial NUDE WINE BAR and Jazz Experiment
Guests are invited--in fact, encouraged in the most determined and obnoxious ways--to disrobe and enjoy cheap red wine. Cheese may or may not be available. A large blank canvas of some sort, upon which guests may spray paint to their abstract expressionist heart's content, will be available. Really old jazz will be played on utterly tiny, low-tech, analog equipment. Polyrhythms will be encouraged. Polyamory will be gleefully tolerated. Polyester will be removed. By Jim from Detroit|

Rhovanion
We are a fun loving group of people (and geeks!) who enjoy historical reenacting, science fiction, fantasy and life. Many of us enjoy heading to conventions and Renaissance Faires. This year we'll be holding a chainmail class and a Mongolian Hat making class!

Multidisciplinary Academy of Fire Dance
A space will be created for fire performance and workshops on fire safety and action with experienced spotters and communal tools. Hands on, live fire instruction for those ready to cross over from practice gear to fire tools. Also with nightly spin jams and skill swaps for veteran performers.

Tree Of Knowledge
We will be tying scrolls of knowledge (trivia!) in the trees. There will be divinations given by Mr. Wizard and a scheduled Wand Duel between the wizards of knowledge which will result in the gift of knowledge to the people- blueberry muffin brain food!

The Celtic Rose Project
The Celtic Rose Project is a living role playing experience. The Art Installation "The Celtic Rose" will set the stage for the crew of the Celtic Rose to talk, walk and act like 'Pirates' in their natural environment. The Crew will be dressed to the nines in Renaissance attire to complete the feeling of really being on the ship.
The theme camp will include a large number of Piratical activities, Including a plank, cannons, grog and tea. Come and join the Captain Rose and her jaunty crew as the explore this new world of Pennsylvania.

Kids Place
A completely kids friendly camp with kids activities, and child care if anyone needs or wants it. Water guns, and slip-n-slides, snacks and drinks!

Faerie Goddess Mothers
The Faerie Goddess Mothers are back... and would love for you to come and share in the wonder of creating whimsical dwellings tucked into tree roots and mossy land. Using natural materials and a bit of human trinkets to create humble homes for our magical friends. This year we will also be making Magical Wands
