A big piece of Burn events are
Theme Camps. Encompassing an (almost) anything goes attitude, the creation
of Theme Camps are for the most part attendee driven. Many theme camps
offer activities, services, art, workshops and /or performances, with
no limit on creativity and originality.
From elaborate creations of space and art, to a simple
place to relax, from a large group of people who create an alternate
world to a few friends who just want to camp together, Theme Camps are
the heart and soul of a burn event. Participating in the creation of
a Theme Camp can be a lot of work, from building it to breaking it all
down, but it is also an experiment in sharing and community, one that
is worth experiencing.
If you are planning a Theme Camp and would like reserved
placement of your camp, please contact our Theme Camp coordinator, Em.
It's the smart thing to do. Trust Us on this.
And yes, Theme Camps can receive Art Grants.

Four Quarters is big and spread out. So we have towns
too. Towns with themes for their Camps. Four for 2009:
* Sound Town is our all night, all day
aural environment. If you want to run loud sound, blow your bass box
and your youthful hearing, you will be in Sound Town. Sound Town is
in one of the prettiest sections of Four Quarters, has it's own swimming
hole, with amazing natural acoustics that limit sound propagation. But
there are limits. Read the Sound Town section for full particulars and
to register your system. If you don't read it, and do bring your sound
system, you will be mightily gerflectered.
* Lust Vegas... well what can we say.
Whips and tongs, vinyl slacks, frottages and stings? Close by the best
swimming hole at Four Quarters to help rinse away... ummm. Whatever
that substance is. If it's physically or visually sexual, it's in Lust
Vegas.
* Center Circle. In the heart of Four
Quarters, on the hill, is The Circle of Standing Stones. Art, installation,
participatory performance. On a Megalithic scale. Relative quiet, inner
space. The values of The Land and living in balance. You will find it
in Center Circle.
* Artisan Alley. Crafts, clothing/costumes,
creation stations.. let your imagination express itself!

Sound Altar
The sound altar is a stage of rhythms and melodies
to raise energy with vibrations, dance and reverence for the
Earth. With DJ's spinning everything from dub-step to psy-trance and
visual feasts of installations and altars, this year's Sound Town will
be the bang in your yin-yang.
The Mass Burn Unit!
Ohio Burn Unit always delivers unique and ornate
Fire Art Performances. This year they will be leading our Fire Conclave
straight into the 3rd degree. Armed with everything from poi to staffs
and toys invented by themselves, they are the hottest ticket at the
burn. They will also be providing workshops on basic to intermediate
spinning, and will even teach you to build poi of your very own. These
guys were aces last year, and you don't want to miss this!

Camp Happenings

Come See - Relax - Talk - Dance - Paint - Mingle - Rest - Express -
Feel - Inspire - Listen - Yoga - Chant - Hear - Enjoy - Meditate - Dream
- Wander - or just Be.
This camp will have a colorfull clubby feel, with a bit of a halloween
twist - a haven for diverse happenings.
Chris & Anthony will have l.e.d. lites/rope lites/DMX lite/fire-water
lite/black lite, halloween decorations, low-level/low-volume music in
the way of psytrance/chill-out/ambient-techno/ambient-space.
Come, let the environment inspire you as you paint a picture/portrait/design
using floresent colored paints under the blacklites.
Hippie Hair Home
Whyldflower & Friends are loaded with goodies
and will be really really happy to braid, dread, or attach ribbon, bells,
yarn, etc to your hair.
Let them transform you - give you that crazy happy hippie hair! Also
enjoy the HOME art installation!!
La Tarpeta
La Tarpeta is back this year with another graffiti
wall!
Perfect the art of the can - or marker - on our installation, or learn
the art of making a stencil.
This year we have a different design & more activities planned,
like stencil workshops for tags and for textiles. Provided by Brenna
Rock around the Fire
Pop culture brought to it's obvious conclusion.
We have spent our lives gleaning inspiration from the songs of our generation.
Now they are presented with a new twist, intentional sing-a-longs around
a comfy fire. No electronics, only drums, bells, and whistles.
Add your voices to the voice of our Pop Star ancestors by singing the
lyrics to your favorite songs!
There may be impromtu showings by possesed people giving live voice
to dead Rock stars!
Spend time under the starz, with dead Starz. Who will be in attendence?
Bob Marley, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and more.....

Em's Enchanted Dressing Room
Back again after a success last year!
Come play dress up! Lots of clothes and accessories to choose from.
Take something to borrow - take something to keep!! This is a clothing
exchange.. Bring something - Take something!
Everyone welcome to come and find something fun to wear. If you dont
have something to exchange, no problem, but if you do - bring it! Selection
changing continuously with what others bring to trade with! Get to cleaning
out those closets & drawers, bring all that fun stuff you don't
play with anymore, and hang it up in the dressing room. Then, check
back later to find something for yourself!
Rhovanion
We are a Medieval Camp who find our spirituality
by recreating Medieval events and day to day living.
We are a fun group who go to Ren Faires every weekend during the Faire
season.
We will be having a Chain mail class where participants will learn basic
weaves and be able to create their own chain mail piece.
Fairy Village
Even fairies need a place to contemplate nature's wonders.
Stop by and help create tiny whimsical dwellings tucked into tree roots
and gullies. Using natural materials, use your imagination to build
for our wee fairy friends!
Camp Amazon
A camp dedicated to celebrating the intelligent warrior
woman and her patrons, goddesses, and muses. We will have games, crafts,
food, and other activities to encourage everyone to celebrate and create.
Chess,combat games, scrabble, face-painting, hooping, knitting, cupcakes,story-telling,
s'mores ... our spiritual path is bright and crafty.
Flaming Tetherball
Pretty self-explanatory, and yeah, we mean it. Wear something
that won't melt into your skin when you miss, don welder's masks and
gloves and have a...ball!
Amethyst Camp
A camp seeking to provide a haven away from alcohol
at WickerMan. Amethyst will be holding AA style meetings for community
support and will provide Shirley Temples and other activities.
El Camino de Santiago
El Camino de Santiago is a medieval-themed camp of pilgrims
from various lands of the road to the Shrine of Saint James at Santiago.
Join us for queimada (flaming liquor ritual), tapas, paella, a game
of tablero, or stories and songs around the fire. Oh, and armored combat!
Chateau Moon Pie
Some guitars and home-made wine, what's not to like?
White Dragon Noodle Bar
Stop by for delicious servings of hot salty noodles,
with salty attitudes and an extra huge helping of your mom!
Dead Man's Party
There's a dead man's party, there's a full moon in the
sky, its the hour of the wolf and we don't want to die! It's a dead
man's party, who could ask for more? Everybody's coming, leave your
body at the door!
A sound set-up in Sound Town with conspirators from Pittsburgh to D.C.!
DJ's spinning Euro-trash, dark psy, jungle and lots in between. Paired
with a huge, huge deco Art Grant, our biggest yet! Leave your body and
soul at the door!
